LNG Import Project

Ecuador’s domestic natural gas production, sourced entirely from the Amistad field, continues to support the country’s energy needs. Against a backdrop of growing demand, Ecuador is assessing alternatives to expand available supply, including imported volumes of 60 to 100 MMscfd, supporting a more diversified, resilient and sustainable supply portfolio.

EP Petroecuador is evaluating LNG as a complementary supply option to strengthen natural gas availability and support growing power and industrial demand, as part of a broader strategy to diversify Ecuador’s energy supply and enhance energy security.

The technical concept outlined in the RFI is indicative and is intended to support the identification of value-adding alternatives. Participants may therefore propose innovative transfer, storage, transportation and regasification schemes, supported by a sound technical and commercial rationale, that can optimize natural gas supply.

This Request for Information (RFI) provides leading international LNG market participants with an opportunity to share their expertise, capabilities and innovative proposals in support of a strategic initiative for Ecuador’s energy development.

The RFI is solely a market consultation and does not constitute a tender, offer or pre-contractual stage. Participation therefore confers no rights, preferences or advantages in any future process.

Ecuador is moving toward a more efficient, diversified and sustainable energy mix.

This initiative seeks to progressively displace diesel consumption through imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) for the power and industrial sectors, creating opportunities for companies able to deliver reliable, competitive, long-term solutions.

EP Petroecuador invites LNG suppliers, traders, infrastructure developers and other specialized LNG value-chain companies to learn more about this initiative and engage in a project with the potential to transform Ecuador’s energy supply landscape.

Sharing information on technology solutions, supply capabilities, logistics models, implementation timelines and commercial terms will help identify alternatives that may support future business opportunities in Ecuador.

This is an invitation to showcase capabilities, build strategic relationships and establish a presence in a market with strong growth potential, while contributing to Ecuador’s energy security and sustainable development.
